About the opportunity:
We're growing! We are looking for someone with strong math and analytical skills to assist the CEO with a variety of projects across disciplines, and in some instances, manage those projects. Given its inter-disciplinary nature, the role requires an analytical generalist rather than a discipline specialist. It's an opportunity to develop a basic, working knowledge in a number of fields, often glueing together the work of specialists in various fields. One quarter, it might be organizing the move of part of the company that requires learning a little CAD to handle office or manufacturing space layout, or costing a project. The next, it might be research and data analysis for a new business, which might be an opportunity to pick up some rudimentary SQL.
We're not looking for specific, deep skills: you could be a botanist, an engineer, or a statistician (or, really, an art historian who also took two semesters of calculus in college and has a working knowledge of C++). The point is, domain specific knowledge or experience doesn't matter for this one. The company already has programmers, database developers, accountants, and other specialists, and consults with outside experts for deep domain specific expertise. We're looking for someone who has both the underlying mathematical and analytical skills and the inclination to quickly learn a little bit about a lot of different things (most frequently from specialists within the organization), such that they could manage projects involving people across a number of fields. Given that, we would like to hire a passionate, organized person who loves having puzzles to solve and enjoys the rhythm of varied, project driven work.
